Power knocked out for thousands in Chili area

Chili, N.Y. - More than 6,000 residents in the Chili/Churchville area were without power following an equipment failure at a RG&E substation.

The malfunction happened just before 1:30 Wednesday.

The outage forced the closure of the Chili Senior Center and the Town Court because, according to Supervisor David Dunning, the buildings don't have generators there.

RG&E officials said they expect power to be back on around 3:30 p.m.
