Sentence reduced for woman who punched cashier

Genesee Co., N.Y. - Jacquetta Simmons, the woman charged for punching a 70-year-old Walmart cashier, will only spend one year in jail.

The incident happened on Christmas Eve 2011.

Initially, Simmons was sentenced to five years in prison but the New York State Supreme Court said it was "harsh and severe under the circumstance of this case."

Simmons became a mother for the first time in 2013.

The one-year sentence will be served in a county jail.
