NYS ed. commissioner gets vote of no confidence

Albany, N.Y. The New York State United Teachers board of directors voted unanimously Saturday for a resolution of no confidence in state Education Commissioner John King.

The board withdrew its support of the Common Core curriculum and asked King be removed from his position.

The group is now waiting for a response from the Board of Regents before taking further action.

A representative from Monroe County said parents and teachers have been crying for a change for some time.

A lot of this started with parents that the teachers wanted to jump in when the parents felt unsupported by Commissioner King, she said. This is the time teachers wanted to jump in and make sure they could do all that they could do to support parents and ensure that their childrens needs were heard.
