Mayor Warren responds to city's corporation counsel

Rochester, N.Y. -- Despite some ethical concerns, Rochester City Council confirmed T. Andrew Brown as the city's new corporation counsel Tuesday night.

There were questions whether or not Browns partnership at a local law firm, Brown and Hutchinson, was a conflict of interest.

City Council had both Harris Beach and Nixon Peabody law firms investigate. Both firms found Brown's partnership didn't violate any rules or pose a conflict of interest.

We knew all along there was no conflict, that there was no anything that was done, or anything ethical bar to this, said Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren. We're just thankful that T. Andrew Brown has been an attorney that's been well recognized across the state and he will serve this city well. And that's why I'm glad council did their due diligence, because they have a job they have to do. So we appreciate that, but I was not worried at all about the results of this coming down today because we had did our due diligence prior to making the offer.
