RIT to host unique swimming event

Henrietta, N.Y. -- About 100 competitors from nine countries are diving in to the water at RIT this week for a unique event.

The Deaf International Short Course Swimming Championships run Tuesday through Saturday at the schools Judson Pool.

The event will use a color-coded light system to let swimmers know when to take off.
Other than that, swimmers said they dont expect any special treatment.

This is not something I take lightly, said Scott Farrell, one of two RIT students competing. Im very competitive. I really want to show people Im just like everybody else. I have the same intensity as everyone else.
