Man charged for falsely reporting vehicle stolen

Livonia, N.Y. - Michael Mallory reported to the Livingston Co. Sheriffs Office that his vehicle had been stolen, but investigators say that was not the case.

Deputy Paul Ricotta found out Mallory had been driving his own car on Cadyville Road in Livonia the night beforeand that hed lost control of his car and ended up in an accident, damaging a fence and several trees.

To cover up, Mallory, 42, ran from his vehicle and reported it had been stolen.

Further investigation revealed Mallory already had pending traffic charges against hm.

He was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree.
