Lewek now flight risk?

Rochester, N.Y. - When William Lewek was in court Tuesday at 11 a.m., prosecutors raised the issue of whether he could be a flight risk.

Lewek was arrested after human remains were found in his backyard.

He faces charges of tampering with evidence and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police investigated Lewek's home for nearly 48 hours after Straton's remains were found.

Lewek's bail was originally set at $500,000, but then lowered to $350,000. Now that his bail has been lowered, prosecutors consider him a flight risk. He has, however, surrendered his passport.

A preliminary hearing set for Wednesday Jan. 22 has been canceled; it will be waved to a grand jury

Lewek has retained Matt Parrinello as his attorney.
