Plenty of parking at downtown grocery
Rochester, N.Y. - Hart's Local Grocer will be the first full-service grocery store for downtown Rochester in more than a decade, and a lot of people are very happy about it.
At a press conference Friday morning, Harts said shoppers can expect moderate prices, but say theyll include high-end products and big brands as well. Theyll also showcase local and organic foods. They said if you want Coke and Doritos, you can get that there too.
Some have expressed concerns about parking, but according to the new owner, there are 130 parking spaces. At peak shopping hours they expect to only need 70-80 spots, assuring plenty of parking.
President of the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation, Heidi Zimmer-Meyer voiced what many believe, which is that the store will fill a big void for the thousands who live downtown.
This will be a new venture for the developer-- who expects the sale of the 21,000 square foot building to close by February.
The developer needs to obtain some permits yet, but they still expect to open in May.
The new Harts Local Grocers will be opening at 10 Winthrop Street, just off of lower East Avenue.
