Deputy dragged during traffic stop

Corfu, N.Y. - A Genesee county man faces charges for assaulting a sheriff's deputy.

Investigators said Scott Kopper, 36, of Corfu refused to get out of his vehicle after a traffic stop in Corfu late Wednesday morning.

Deputies said that Kopper was wanted on a warrant from the New York State Division of Parole when he was stopped by Deputy Brian Thompson. Investigators said that Kopper refused to get out of his vehicle, and rolled up his window trapping Deputy Thompson's hand inside the vehicle. The deputy was dragged for at least 100 feet.

Investigators said that Kopper's vehicle eventually became pinned by a snowbank.

Thompson suffered suffered minor injuries, and is expected to recover.
