"Party in the Park" returns to...the park

Rochester, N.Y. - The Party in the Park is returning to, well, the park.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren announced on Thursday that the popular concert series will return to its original venue this year - the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square.

"We heard you Rochester. We know you've grown to love Party in the Park since it began in 1997 and we're taking it back to its roots," said Mayor Warren. "Party in the Park is going back to the park."

The stage will be located near Court Street. Audiences will have plenty of options for shade and are encouraged to bring blankets.

Warren said a "village" area will include food trucks, working artists and other activities.

Party in the Park began in 1997 at Manhattan Square Park and remained there until 2004, when it moved to the High Falls Festival Site. In 2008, the event outgrew High Falls and again relocated, this time to the Riverside Festival Site at the corner of Exchange Blvd. and Court St.

The 18th annual Party in the Park event dates will be Thursdays from June 19 through August 14. Complete talent line up and details will be announced in early May.
