Foodlink founder passes away

Rochester, N.Y. - Anti-hunger advocate Tom Ferraro, 67, passed away Tuesday morning of pancreatic cancer.

The Rochester native founded and led Foodlink, one of the nations first food banks, for 36 years.

Ferraro developed Foodlink by bringing together food cupboards, donations, and distribution resources which now provide many of the areas needy residents with food.

The organization now distributes 18 million pounds of food and resources every year to soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, group homes and many other non-profits.

Those wishing to donate funds on behalf of Tom are asked to consider contributing to the Foodlink Foundation in Toms name.
