UofR offering free heart screenings

Rochester, N.Y. - The American Heart Association is trying to raise awareness for womens heart health, and is running the go red for women campaign to do just that.

Dr. Chris Cove, a cardiologist from University of Rochester said that heart screenings should start at age 50, unless a person is at a higher risk for heart disease than most people.

For somebody with a lot of risk factors, family history, a history of smoking, screening really would involve a blood test, and maybe some kind of stress testing, said Dr. Cove.

Doctors from the University of Rochester Medical Center will have free heart screenings February 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greece Ridge Mall.
