Families of Chili Avenue victims hold vigil
Rochester, N.Y. - Three families, brought together by a brutal crime, met at the scene of the triple homicide investigation Wednesday night.
Three bodies were found in the second floor apartment of a home on Chili Avenue Monday.
Police confirmed the identities of the victims as Jermeliah Simmons, 21, Jacquelyn Simmons, 24, and Michael Nelson, 24, all from Rochester.
It's cold, but we're still here standing," said Demetre Simmons, relative of two of the victims. "We want to know what happened. Somebody tell us what happened. That's all that matters, what happened. We don't know what happened. They can't speak anymore; we're speaking for them.
His sister and cousin gone, Simmons said its difficult to grieve while the family is haunted by so many unanswered questions.
Cousins and best friends, Jermeliah and Jacquelyn lived in the second-floor apartment together.
They were raising their kids together and for them to have their life taken so young, you know? said Jacquelyn's mother, also named Jacquelyn.
Why would somebody kill them like that, two girls? asked Jermeliah's mother, Debra Sanchez.
Family members said the third victim, Nelson, was friend with the two women. They believe he stopped by the house sometime Sunday.
He was somebody who just came down to the house, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time," Jacquelyn Simmons said. "Thats what happened to him and my daughter and Jermeliah. Dont know what happened.
Crime technicians returned to the investigation site just before the vigil began. The Rochester Police Department hasnt released any information on a possible motive or suspects.
Looking for answers, all of the families asked the community help find out who did this and why.
If anybody know anything about Jacquelyn , Jermeliah, or big Mike, please come forward, Jacquelyn Simmons said.
