Gillibrand pressing Pentagon on sexual assault

Washington -- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) is pressing the Pentagon to turn over information about sexual assault cases on U.S. military bases.

The push comes after an Associated Press report about the militarys handling of sex crimes in Japan.

That report revealed several cases in which charges were reduced and light penalties were handed down for convicted offenders.

Gillibrand, the chief sponsor of a bill to combat sexual assault in the military, wants to review case records from 2009 to 2013 from major U.S. bases, including Fort Hood in Texas and Camp Pendleton in California.
