Woman collects over $8,500 charged with welfare fraud

Geneva, N.Y. - A Geneva woman defrauded Ontario County of over $8,500 by using county daycare for her children while her husband was home and able to care for them, according to the Ontario Co. Sheriffs Department.

Jacey Brooks, 27, omitted from her welfare paperwork that her husband was living with her between March 2012 and January of 2013. She also omitted the fact that he was unemployed and able to care for her children during that time.

Brooks is charged with welfare fraud in the 3rd and offering false instrument for filing in the 1st.

She was arraigned in Geneva City Court and released on her own recognizance. Shes scheduled to return to Geneva City court Feb. 24.
