CVS phasing out tobacco
Woonsocket, R.I.-- CVS is saying "No" to tobacco.
The company announced it will not buy tobacco after next year and will phase out the sale of tobacco products.
As a consequence, it will forgo $1.5 billion in revenue per year.
The move better delineates the health messages of doctors and pharmacies. It also reinforces knowledge of the health risks of smoking, a point of view supported by a new article in Wednesdays Journal of American Medicine.
Wegmans made the decision to stop selling tobacco products in February of 2008.
