Family waiting for answers in triple murder
Rochester, N.Y. -- The families of three people found dead in an apartment on Chili Avenue Monday morning are looking for answers, starved for information.
Were still trying to piece everything together ourselves, said Mae Washington, cousin of one of the victims. Everything is so confusing. We just know he was found in the house dead.
Washington said the third victim to be identified is her cousin Michael Nelson, 24, of Rochester.
Everybody knew him," Washington said as she stood next to a memorial of flowers and candles in front of the home. "Everybody loved him. His family loved him and we cant even grasp this. We dont even know why he was here.
Washington said she didnt know the other two victims, identified by their family as Jermeliah and Jacquelyn Simmons, first cousins. Both young mothers, Jermeliah and Jacquelyn lived in the second-floor apartment together.
"I feel so bad for them as well, though," Washington said. "You know, they have children -- children that are going to be growing up without a mother now."
Neither family knows what kind of relationship the two women had with Nelson. The three victims were found dead, apparently shot, around 9:30 Monday morning.
Its hard just to find out how he was murdered why he was," Washington said. "No one knows why he was murdered. Thats hard enough and everybody know he didnt deserve this."
The medical examiner has not released the identities of the victims, but family members said their fears have already been confirmed and now all they want to know is who did this and why.
Im looking for someone to find who did this," Washington said. "You gunned these three down for what?
While the many wait for answers, Washington said she wants justice.
Get them off the streets," she said. "If they could easily kill these three like this, theyll do it to anybody.
