Rochester police officers named in lawsuit

Rochester, N.Y. -- Two Rochester police officers and the former chief are named in a lawsuit filed by a man who claims he was beaten by officers when they arrested him in August 2013.

Dwayne Ivery, 52, and his lawyer discussed the lawsuit at a news conference Tuesday.

Ivery claims surveillance video from his home shows one officer beating him until he was unconscious while the other did nothing to stop it.

Ivery said police were called to his residence because when he was in the midst of breaking up with his girlfriend at the time.

Ivery was arrested for harassment and resisting arrest, but said those criminal charges were later dropped.

The city and police department declined to comment because of the ongoing legal matter.
