McQuaid student diagnosed with whooping cough

Brighton, N.Y. -- The Monroe County Health Department confirmed an eighth grader at McQuaid Jesuit Middle School has pertussis, or whooping cough.

The health department sent a letter home to parents warning that if their child has a persistent cough, or develops a cough in the next three weeks, to see a doctor.

The department urged parents to make sure their children are up to date on all their pertussis immunizations.
