New Steuben County K9 honors fallen soldier

Bath, N.Y. The Steuben County Sheriffs Office has a new deputy on their team. He isnt the typical deputy, either.

Deputy Devin, the 2-year-old German Shepherd was imported from Holland. He is the second canine to join the department.

Deputy Devin gets his name from Army Sgt. Devin Snyder, who was killed in action in 2011 while deployed to Afghanistan.

Deputy Devin was a gift from the Sgt. Devin A. Snyder Memorial Foundation, established by Sgt. Snyders parents, Edward and Dineen Snyder in effort to support law enforcement in Steuben and Livingston counties.

Sgt. Snyder was stationed at Fort Richardson Alaska, with the 164th Military Police Company, 793rd Military Police Battalion.
