Mayor Warren forms early education commission

Rochester, N.Y. -- Mayor Lovely Warren met Tuesday with educators from all over Monroe County and from local colleges and universities.

The meeting follows Gov. Andrew Cuomos decision to make universal pre-K a part of his state budget.

But the mayor said Rochester was shortchanged in state aid compared to Buffalo and Syracuse, and has formed an early education commission to make sure, according to her, the same thing doesnt happen when state and federal pre-K dollars are doled out.

The commission will also secure private grants.

Mayor Warren expects to announce the 20 members on the commission at a later date.
