"Walk the Walk" honors Rochester's past

Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester students saw the city's African-American ancestors come to life Thursday.

The Landmark Society brought re-enactors in to "Walk the Walk" - the name of the event - at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance.

Mayor Lovely Warren said it's a chance for young people to learn about where we come from.

"Right here in Rochester, we had some of the greatest heroes that are part of the very fabric of what we're grounded on. And I think that that's important for our young people to hear about," said

Thursday's performance is one of hundreds of events in honor of Black History Month.
