Neighbors react to Clay Ave. homicide

Rochester, N.Y. -- Rochester Police said a man in his 30s was shot and killed in the 50 block of Clay Avenue Saturday night.

Barbara Meacham lives across the street and told 13WHAM she was spending time with her granddaughter.

All of a sudden we heard this big crash that made us jump," Meachem said. "It was like a pounding noise, like bang bam bam, and it was actually, I guess, the gunshots.

Just like Meacham, many living nearby heard the gunshots and said the victim was shot on the porch. 13WHAM also saw police escort two little children out of that same residence after the shooting.

There were police cars lined up the entire length on both sides of the street and it was all taped off with yellow tape, said Meacham. I mean every bumper to bumper police cars.

The entire ordeal was an even bigger shock to Meachams granddaughter, Layla Jackson, who is just 7. Jackson said she used to ride her bike to the home where the victim was shot and play with the children.

There are probably four, three kids there and I think there were two moms in the house, said Jackson.

As of Sunday, Rochester police did release new information regarding this investigation.
