Staff knocks on doors to get kids to school

Rochester, N.Y. -- School staff and volunteers are once again hitting the streets to make sure kids are attending classes Thursday.

It's the latest Truancy Blitz from the Rochester City School District.

Superintendent Bolgen Vargas is knocking on doors along with other staffers.

More than 7,500 students have missed at least 10 percent of school since the fall.

However, the blitz does come on the heels of some good news: School No. 4 in the city has seen attendance jump to 95 percent.

School No. 4 will be honored Thursday night with the "Yes We Can" award given by the district school board.
