Couple arrested for allegedly illegally owning monkey

Warsaw, N.Y. - Two Wyoming County residents are charged for illegal owning a monkey, a hawk, and growing marijuana.

Following an investigation, the state police and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Police arrested Dara Jennings, 56, and Mark Galioto, 47, both of the town of Java.

The investigation found that the two fraudulently altered a form used to buy a Grivet Monkey, which authorities seized. Parts of a dead red tail hawk were also found at the property.

Eleven small marijuana plants were also found at the couple's property.

Both Jennings and Galioto were charged with illegal possession of a Grivet Monkey, offering a false instrument for filing, and tampering with physical evidence. Galioto was charged with Illegal Possession of a red tail hawk and unlawfully growing cannabis.
