Man: Dad neglected at nursing home

Rochester, N.Y. -- Miguel Pabone, 63, died March 16, but his son said he believes his father would have lived longer had he received proper care at an area nursing and rehab facility.

I trusted these people with my dad, said Angel Pabone. They took an oath to take care of my dad, and not only my dad, but individuals at the home, too.

Ten employees at Blossom North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are now charged with crimes, some of them felonies, for how they allegedly neglected Pabone.

The state attorney generals office said the hidden camera investigation is over and involved only Pabone.

Pabones son first went to the AGs office about a month ago when he first suspected neglect.

Every time I asked him if he was OK, he would say Yeah, Pabone said. He didnt want me to worry about him.

Six nurses and four nursing assistants are also accused of falsifying paperwork to indicate Pabone was given regular medicine and regular testing for blood sugar. The AGs office said the video suggests those things were not done.

The time will come when they have to come forward and be honest, be truthful, Pabone said. These people are going to come to justice.

One of the nurses aides declined comment Tuesday, while others could not be reached. Another arrest is pending. The accused are due in court Friday.

This is not the first time Blossom North has been cited or fined for health and safety issues. It has now been fined three times in the last three years.
