Students challenged to create app

Rochester, N.Y. - High school students are being challenged to develop an app in science, technology, engineering or math.

A workshop was held at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Saturday afternoon with Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. Slaughter was there to kick off the contest.

The challenge is designed to have high schoolers come up with new and better ways to use technology.

Students must develop a prototype design of an app relating to stem fields.

Submissions are due by April 30.
