SU set for NCAA opener in Buffalo

Buffalo, N.Y. -- Many sports fans might be calling in sick to work Thursday, the first big day of the NCAA Division I Mens Basketball Championship.

Syracuse has an early start in this years tournament. The No. 3 seed Orange (27-5) face No. 14 seed Western Michigan (23-9), the Mid-American Conference champions. The South Region second-round matchup is scheduled to tip off at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

The Orange are looking to make their second consecutive run to the Final Four, although they have dropped five of their last seven games after winning their first 25 games to open the season.

Ohio State and Dayton face off in the first game in Buffalo at 12:15 p.m. Connecticut and Saint Josephs are scheduled to tip at 6:55, followed by Villanova and Milwaukee at 9:25.

The 13WHAM Sports team will have live reports from Buffalo Thursday at 5 and 6 p.m.
