Starving cats found, woman facing charges

Geneva, N.Y. -- A Geneva woman is facing animal cruelty charges after the Humane Society said they found dead and starving cats in her home.

The Ontario County Humane Society said it found seven abandoned cats at Monnie Zepkowskis home on Route 14. Three were still alive, four were dead.

No food or water was at the residence and the live cats were feeding off the dead ones, according to the Humane Society.

An investigation by the Humane Society showed that Zepkowski, 57, had failed to feed them.

She was charged with felonious aggravated cruelty to animals.

The three live cats were taken to a veterinarian's office, where they are being cared for.
