Syracuse gets 3 seed in NCAA Tournament
Syracuse, N.Y. -- If this was the World Cup, the South Region would be nicknamed "The Group Of Death".
The Syracuse men's basketball team was given the No. 3 seed in the South region for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Syracuse will play its second-round matchup against Western Michigan Thursday afternoon. If the Orange advance, they will play the winner of Ohio State and Dayton.
The Orange would play their first two games at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. If Syracuse advances, it will play the rounds of 16 and 8 in Memphis.
The road to the Final Four will be very difficult for the Orange. The South Region also includes No. 1 overall seed Florida, No. 2 seed Kansas and No. 4 seed UCLA.
Syracuse finished the season 27-5 after a 25-0 start.
But despite finishing the season in a slump, there is reason for optimism for Syracuse fans. The Orange were the No. 3 seed in 2003, when they won the national championship.
