Govenor Cuomo competes in Adirondack winter challenge

Lake Placid, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo and a group of state and local officials are heading to Lake Placid for the Adirondack Winter Challenge, an event to highlight tourism and winter activities in the region.

They'll spend the afternoon Sunday in friendly competition involving eight-person teams. Events include alpine skiing at Whiteface Mountain, cross-country skiing and bobsledding at Mount Van Hoevenberg, tobogganing in the village, and hockey, curling and skating at the Olympic Center.

A staff member of Sen. Betty Little tells the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that Little plans to compete in curling.

Cuomo hosted a warm-weather version of the challenge last summer with whitewater raft races in Indian lake.
