Proposal would send parents to school
Albany, N.Y. -- A proposal in the state Legislature would require parents to go to school in order for their children to reach the seventh grade.
In the bill, lawmakers called for the New York State Education Department to create 12 classes about what students are learning and the struggles they face.
Parents would be required to attend at least four of the classes or risk having their child being held back in sixth grade.
It would also require businesses to give a paid day off to parents so they could attend the classes.
