Poll: Francis leading "major change"

Washington -- A new poll released Thursday morning gave Pope Francis high marks in his first year at the Vatican.

The Pew Research Center poll showed 71 percent of American Catholics think Francis had brought about major change for the better thus far.

However, the poll also found Mass attendance and the number of Americans identifying as Catholic has not changed.

The poll was released one day after Pope Francis said the Church could be open to civil unions, though it still opposes same-sex marriage.
