10 charged at nursing home

Rochester, N.Y. -- The New York state attorney general has filed criminal charges against 10 employees of Blossom North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an investigation which relied on a hidden camera in a patients room.

The victim was a double amputee who also suffered from partial paralysis and other ailments.

The matter came to the attention of the AGs office after a request from the victims son.
The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of pervasive neglect.

Footage showed certified nurses aides routinely ignored their duties, including failure to dispense prescription medications.

Six nurses and four nursing assistants were charged with a variety of felony and misdemeanor counts and are to be arraigned Friday in Rochester City Court. One additional nurse is expected to face similar charges in this case.

The six nurses charged are Junetta Jenkins, Jasmine Franco, Champagne Anderson and Savannah Harding of Rochester, Binita Dahal of Brooklyn and Faye Aguillon of Queens. The four nursing assistants charged are Rochester residents Krista Stevenson, Christy Holmes, Elizabeth Acevedo and Iesha Short.

The double-amputee patient died March 16.
