Rochester, N.Y. -- A government contract with Rochester Optical is expected to support 160 jobs in Rochester, according to Sen. Chuck Schumer.

The Department of Defense chose Rochester Optical to provide frames for the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

Schumer announced Thursday the contract is worth up to $50 million.

Rochester Optical Manufacturing is independently owned and operated. It manufactures and wholesales military eyewear and lenses.

The company employs roughly 200 employees, including 160 workers at the Rochester facility after expanding its headquarters in 2010 in the Lyell Avenue neighborhood.
