Hobart president named gambling regulator

Albany, N.Y. -- The president of Hobart and Williams Smith Colleges will lead the state agency that regulates all gaming in New York state, including casinos.

Mark Gearan was confirmed as chair of the commission Tuesday. The Gaming Commission is expected to appoint members to a casino siting board when it meets March 12.

The announcement came just a day after the Seneca Nation purchased land for a possible casino in Henrietta.

Rochesters Wilmorite Corporation is also proposing a casino in Seneca County.
