Six injured in two-car Thruway crash

Junius, N.Y. - State Police responded to a two car accident on I-90 in the Town of Junius, Seneca County Friday morning. Six people were injured, one of whom was flown to Strong Hospital with a serious injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Bryce M. Lewis, 18, of Newark, was traveling west on I-90 in a red Chevrolet Cobalt when it ran out of gas. She pulled over and used her cell to call a friend traveling only a few miles behind.

Travon A. Wilson, 18, of Geneva, was traveling west on I-90 in a black 2007 Dodge Nitro, about one mile from where Lewis had pulled over. A passenger in his vehicle received a call from Lewis explaining her situation.

New York State Police say Wilson did not see Lewis vehicle and struck the rear passenger side of the Cobalt causing it to overturn and come to rest in the median.

A total of nine people were involved in the accident.

The most seriously injured, Dajun Sims, was a passenger in the Cobalt. He was taken to Strong Hospital with a serious but non-life threatening injury to his hip.

Lewis was transported to Strong Memorial with lacerations. Two other passengers of the Cobalt were transported to Geneva General Hospital for complaints of pain.

Wilson and one other passenger from the Nitro were also transported to Strong Memorial for lacerations.

Both drivers were ticketed and troopers advised that alcohol or impairment was not a contributing factor.
