East High given ultimatum, could face closure

Rochester, N.Y. -- The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has ordered the Rochester City School District to close, phase out or convert East High School.

According to school board President Van White, Superintendent Bolgen Vargas received a letter from the state last week in regard to the high school.

East High has been under review because of poor performance.

The school board has set a meeting with parents for April 8 to talk about what comes next.

The district has until April 30 to make a decision.
