Spring sports on ice

Livonia, N.Y.Day two of spring meant a lot of activity for sports teams in the region, few however had available fields to use.

It's wet, that's the problem we have now all this snow messing its terrible its a flood, said Zack Kolodziejski, a senior on the team.

Local schools such of Livonia do not have access to heaters or other equipment that would help break up the ice or dry the outfield.

If it was closer to a game we might have the kids out here moving the snow around, explained varsity coach Scott Gilman.

The team has practiced in their gymnasium since the first week in March.

Its difficult, added Gilman. Like I always say, 2 weeks in the gym is tough on the kids.

The team will travel to Myrtle Beach for its first real action of the season, but its local schedule begins at MCC March 31st. Game one in Livonia is April 7th.

Weve got a little time yet, Gilman added.

The sooner we get out the better, stated senior, Mike English.
