Support growing for medical marijuana

Victor, N.Y. -- Medical marijuana advocates are gaining hope the substance will soon be legalized in New York state.

Sue Nill Kidera of Victor has stage IV colon cancer, which she was first diagnosed with in 2005. She said she has issues with nausea and loss of appetite, and she believes medical marijuana could help her and many others deal with symptoms.

I just want to live the best quality of life that I can live, she said. I just want to be able to go out to dinner with friends and not have to worry about if its a good day or bad day.

Kidera said she has been repeatedly contacting Sen. Ted OBrien (D-Irondequoit) to support the Compassionate Care Act, which would legalize medical marijuana in the state. OBrien announced his support for the act last week.

Its a way to reach out to people with their human suffering, Kidera said. I dont see how you could not support something that helps people live a better life.
