Hemlock homicide victim identified

Livonia, N.Y. -- The body of a woman found early Saturday morning behind a home on Bald Hill Road is Marcia Flemke, 58, wife of Gary Flemke, 61.

Flemke's death is being investigated as a homicide.

Gary Flemke is currently in the Livingston County Jail facing charges for allegedly tampering with evidence.

Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffrey said he plans on filing more charges against Flemke, but stopped just short of specifics.

Out-of-state relatives of Marcia Flemke first contacted 911 on Friday to report they were having trouble getting in touch with her. Deputies and investigators later discovered a body behind the woods of the home in Hemlock, where she lived with her husband.

After an autopsy, investigators concluded Flemke died from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators did not say how long the body had been lying in the wooded area behind the home.

Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty indicated deputies and police had responded to incidents at the Flemke house on multiple occasions, but added there had not been any recent incidents.

Dougherty acknowledged the Flemkes' marriage may have been in the process of ending.

There were talks about divorce pending, he said. But no papers had been filed.

Flemke was slated to appear in Livonia town court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing, but the district attorney does not anticipate moving forward with that hearing and intends to present the case to a Livingston County grand jury.
