Kodak plans to lay off 35 workers

Rochester, N.Y. -- A filing with the state shows Eastman Kodak plans to lay off 35 workers at Eastman Business Park this June.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state labor department, the reasons for the layoffs are economic.

Last week, Kodak released its first earnings report since coming out of bankruptcy and posted a $51 million loss.

Sales fell in both of the companys business segments, according to the report.

Film sales dipped 12 percent, an expected side effect as the entertainment industry shifts from film to digital format.

Digital and enterprise sales fell 22 percent, which was the place Kodak was hoping to make money.
