Toddler's family shares grief

by Patrice Walsh

Greece, N.Y. -- James Feenin said his family is devastated by the death of his 17-month-old niece, Rileigh Daniels.

The family said they are relieved Greece police have made an arrest in Rileigh's death. Cory Favata, 23, is facing second-degree murder charges. Favata was Rileigh's mother's boyfriend.

Police said the baby was in Favata's care when she was injured. Family members said they were told by hospital staff that the baby was shaken. Police wouldn't confirm that but said Rileigh suffered multiple injuries.

Kristina Fuller, Rileigh's mother, released this statement:

"My daughter Rileigh was the light of my life and I love her very much. She was so smart just learning to get around on her own, learning new words every day. This has been a very difficult time for me and my family. Right now I am just trying to do everything I can to give my daughter the memorial service she deserves. I want to personally thank everyone who has been here to support me in my time of need. The kindness of the families, friends and even complete strangers has given me some comfort in the worst time imaginable. I want to thank everyone who has donated and shared the link to our GoFundMe page. It means a lot that so many people care about my little angel. Right now all I ask is that people respect our privacy and let us grieve. This is a tragic time for all of those involved and we just need the public to respect our wishes at this time. She is greatly missed and loved and we are doing everything we can to give her everything possible and everything she deserves."

The family plans to honor Rileigh with a service sometime next week.
