First 'Honor Flight' of 2014 returns home

Rochester, N.Y. - An army of salutes, waving flags and waving *hands at our airport today!

The first Honor Flight of the year kicked off in the usual patriotic fashion.

The non-profit organization flies local veterans to Washington D.C. and back, free of charge.

On Sunday, nearly fifty of our veterans returned.

Most served in World War 2, with several others serving in the Korean War.

"It was awesome. It was wonderful. It was well-organized. Everybody was friendly," said WW2 veteran and Penfield resident Ida Palumbo. "I'm very appreciative of all of this."

Palumbo was one of four female veterans on this trip.

There are six more Honor Flights this year.
