Fallen officers remembered in Wayne County

Lyons, N.Y. Forty years ago, John Lisi rose from sergeant to chief of the Lyons Police Department, but the promotion was not the kind that people wanted.

John Lisi took the helm of the Lyons Police Department after his brother Amedeo was killed in a car accident.

I didnt really want the job at the time. I was a sergeant, happy with what I was doing, John Lisi said.

Friday, Amedeo Lisi was honored and John was there.

Took quite a while to get over it -- which you never get over anyway, Lisi said.

Retired Police Chief Lisi is thankful his brother is being honored for his sacrifice with fresh, bright blue signs that honor Amedeo Lisi and three other fallen Wayne County servicemen.

Doing this for him, I think its great. Its just great, John Lisi said.

With the help of his staff, newly appointed Chief John Lisi figured out his new position.

It was hard. It was hard. It was very, very hard. I tried to handle it the best I could, Lisi said.

Aside from Amedeo Lisi, tribute was paid to Constable Edward Pullman, William Degreff and Investigator Carl Clingerman.

The signs are located at the different sites where the officers were killed in the line of duty.
