RCSD holding public hearings on budget, East
Rochester, N.Y. -- The City School District will take public comment on its proposed budget and the future of East High School Tuesday night.
The $782 million budget for the 2014-15 school year would add full-day pre-kindergarten for nearly all 4-year-olds. It would also expand reading and literacy programs, and add modified sports teams and equipment in some schools.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the district office building on West Broad Street. The East High hearing will follow around 6:30.
Parents and students will get to discuss a proposal that an educational partnership organization would take over administration duties at East.
Last month, the state education department ordered the school to make changes because of poor performance. The district has until May 15 to decide on a plan.
