Tax breaks approved for Canandaigua project

Canandaigua, N.Y. - A vote Thursday night has cleared the path for 30 years of tax breaks for a Canandaigua development project.

The Ontario County supervisors approved the breaks for the North Shore Project, a $120 million effort across from Kershaw Park which will include retail space, housing and parking garages.

Developers said that the next steps include buying land and cleanup work. Construction is set to begin in late 2015.

Meanwhile, supervisors delayed a vote to switch Ontario County's bus system.

A proposal would switch the service from being run by a private company to RGRTA in an effort to cut costs.

A vote on the issue is expected in three weeks.
