Toddler death ruled homicide

Greece, N.Y.- Greece Police say they are investigating the death of a 17-month-old girl as a homicide.

Investigators say Rileigh Daniels family called 911 on April 21st because the baby had a medical condition. They say despite life-saving efforts by EMT's and doctors, Rileigh died at Strong Hospital last Thursday.

Greece Police won't confirm reports from some family members who say they were told the baby was shaken, causing her death.

But police tell us this is a homicide. They are interviewing everyone who had contact with the baby.

And have interviewed family members daily since the baby was taken to the hospital from her family's apartment on Pennels Drive in Greece, a week ago.

Investigators say they are looking at some individuals, more closely than others and will find out who did this "to get justice for Rileigh."

Family members tell 13 WHAM the mother of 17-month-old Rileigh Daniels is devastated over her baby's death and spent the day Tuesday planning her daughter's funeral.

Rileigh's aunt has set up a fund to help her mother pay for funeral expenses. She told us the baby's mom can't afford to bury her child.

That fund set up through go fund me has raised over 16- hundred dollars.
