Blossom South workers' union files lawsuit

Rochester, N.Y. -- The union representing workers at a local nursing home that shut down last month is now suing the home.

A lawsuit filed Friday accused Blossom South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of failing to give approximately 140 employees proper notice of layoffs.

The nursing home, located on Monroe Avenue, closed in March after the government cut off Medicare and Medicaid payments following repeated citations for health and safety violations from state inspectors.

The lawsuit seeks lost wages and benefits for employees who lost their jobs.
