Gun control group pushing for more restrictions

Albany, N.Y. -- Gun control advocates made a push for tougher rules for firearm storage in New York state Tuesday.

New Yorkers Against Gun Violence lobbied lawmakers to pass legislation requiring that guns be stored in a safe or be equipped with a gun lock.

The group also proposed all semi-automatic handguns sold in the state be equipped with a device that stamps a code into a shell casing each time a gun is fired.

The group argued the measure will help police track guns used in shootings.

Many gun rights advocates were already unhappy with the NY SAFE Act, which put stricter rules in place for gun owners last year.
